Messier & NGC Objects

Findercharts for constellations and their Messier objects are available here

Crisp images of 108 Messier objects and a brief description of their celestial location are presented at the Cal Tech site

If you're interested in deep sky observing, check out the SEDS Messier Home Page and the accompanying set of images and text descriptions for all Messier deep space objects, listed by nebulae, clusters, and galaxies. The Silicon Owl offers photos and hand-drawn sketches of all Messier and many Herchel objects.

CCD images of most Messier deep space objects are available at the University of Oregon site.

Jan Wisniewski maintains an encyclopedic website entitled CCD Tour of the Universe which offers images and commentaries of various DSO objects (Messiers, NGCs, Palomars, Herschels, among others) as well as tips on taking great CCD photos. One of the best features of this site are the orientation charts accompanying each DSO; this makes it much easier to find the object you are looking for.

Images of numerous NGC objects and a brief description of their celestial location are presented by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific site. Another fine collection of galaxy images was compiled by Zolt Frei
